Sometimes it is the darkest moments that help produce the greatest amount of light in your life. They help you grow. They help you learn. And if you are persistent enough and loving to yourself throughout; they will teach you how to experience levels of love, freedom, and joy that you have never experienced before.
- A message from me (John) to you -
My name is John Gutekunst. I am a Transformation Specialist with a proven expertise in depression. I also am the operator of ConquerMyDepressionToday.com.
One of the things that I am the best at is getting clients to a point where they say, “THAT is it! THAT is why I am feeling this way! THAT is what is causing all of my challenges right now! E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G makes so much sense!".
I like to call this moment a “Breakthrough”. In the journey to conquer depression, having a Breakthrough is an essential step and point in the journey that cannot be skipped. Until you create an experience like this for yourself, you have not gone far enough into the journey to conquer depression.
Not only is it absolutely essential to create a Breakthrough- experiencing a moment with that level of clarity is also one of the most healing, freeing, and cathartic points in this journey. Whether it's with me or someone else, I sincerely hope you find a way to create lasting Breakthrough moment for yourself.
It was my personal experience with what is commonly called depression back in 2010 that led me to where I am today. So please know that I am talking from both professional and personal experience when I share that creating a Breakthrough is “absolutely essential”.
What Lead Me Here?
Back in 2010 I went through a pretty darn dark spot in my life. I had suicidal thoughts and urges, took an eight-week unpaid leave of absence from work because I was so stuck, and eventually ended up going to therapy two times a week for over three years. I ended therapy in 2013 and have not been back since.
So yes, I know very vividly just how dark and difficult life can get. Most of all, I know how to get out of that “dark place” completely.
After I returned to work from my leave of absence in late 2010, the work I was putting into learning more about myself and how to overcome extremely difficult personal challenges literally paid off. From 2010 to 2013, I doubled my salary and was able to “retire” in 2014.
It turns out that knowing a lot about why we humans do what we do, why you do what you do, and how to best relate to others is very beneficial in a business setting (these skills are also very beneficial in many other areas of your life too).
When I "retired" in 2014, I made a childhood dream come true by starting my own business. At that time, I also made another personal dream come true by moving to San Diego, California. I had been wanting to live in this city for nearly a decade, and in 2014 I made that “other dream” come true. For me, personally, San Diego really, truly feels like home and I could not be happier here.

- WILLIAM JAMES-
Yes, that's me in the golf photo at Torrey Pines (South Course 17th hole). That truly is one of my favorite hobbies and places on the planet. My friend took it when I wasn't expecting it. I'm glad he did. The other is a Padres game, and then another gorgeous sunset.
What Caused This?
All of this “success story” and “making my dreams come true” is directly attributable to the invaluable lessons I learned through the work I did to conquer my personal challenges completely. This includes experiencing over 350 hours of psychotherapy as a patient from 2010 to 2013.
The things I learned about psychology, human behavior, and how to Completely Transform your life proved to be invaluable. Without this knowledge and skills, none of what happened after I returned to work in 2010 would have been possible.
I sincerely hope that one day you can create a similar success story for yourself too.

Meditation is a GREAT skill to learn. It helps with depression, self esteem, stress management, and a whole host of other ailments. If you are are open to something like this, I would be happy to teach you some very practical and effective ways to meditate that won't be too complex or demand too much of your time. And for the over achievers out there, I also have some more advanced meditations and breathing techniques as well : )
